As the founder of Once Upon a Legacy, I have been supporting 175 families living in a poverty stricken slum in Cambodia since 2019. Since that time we have provided water filters to each family, veggie garden beds with soil, seeds, cages over them so the rats don’t eat the plants, padlocks so they are not stolen, medical aid, sewing machines, recycling carts, baby formula, rent for elderly, food and rice during the 10 week lockdowns of the pandemic. We now have a full-time day care for 40 children while their parents work very laboursome jobs or search for useful items amongst the rubbish dump. We have an English class for 50 teenagers once a week and an Adult Bible study, we also provide 2 buses for 35 people each Sunday for those who want to attend a church service.
This ministry to these poor and needy people will only continue to grow through every legacy book that is purchased by you.
I want to take this opportunity to thank the people who made Once Upon a Legacy a reality – Caroline, Tim, John, Jaco, Marlise, Tom & Merry – from the very depths of my heart, thank you for believing in my vision and filling in the gaps to provide this gift to the world.
Yours in honouring others,
Heidi Evans
